SOP on Checking Balance Eccentric Accuracy

1.0 Objective: To lay down a procedure for checking balance eccentric accuracy.

2.0 Scope: The procedure applies to the balance eccentric accuracy in the production area.

3.0 Responsibility: Officer, Executive – Production Department
Manager – Production Department

4.0 Procedure:

4.1 Check the cleanliness of the weighing balance.
4.2 Calibrate and operate the weighing balance of 200 gm,3000 gm, 6 Kg, 30 Kg, and 60 Kg capacity weighing balance.
4.3 Select the standard weights for checking the eccentric accuracy for various balances based on the capacity as mentioned below:

4.4 Place the standard weights at five different points of the platform (all four corners and middle) to check the balance’s eccentric accuracy and record the same in Annexure-I.
4.5 Displayed weight at five locations shall be approximately the same.
4.6 If the results exceed the acceptable (limit ± 0.2 % of the certified value of the standard weight), Put the ‘UNDER MAINTENANCE’ tag and inform the head of the department for necessary corrective action.
4.7 Ensure that the standard weights are certified by the weights and measures department.

4.8 Frequency: Monthly
